Expressing No-Value Information in RDF

چکیده
RDF is a data model to represent positive information. Consequently, it is not clear how to represent the non-existence of information in RDF. We present a technique to express such information in RDF and incorporate it into SPARQL query answering. Given an empty query answer, our technique can distinguish whether it is empty due to possibly incomplete information, or non-existent information.

Evaluating of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Production from Municipal Solid Waste (Case Study: Qazvin Province)
Considering increasing population growth in recent decades, and consequently, the increase in waste production in the world, waste management and efforts to reduce their harm to the environment has become an important issue. One of the appropriate ways to manage municipal waste is to generate energy from waste, especially by RDF production method. On the other hand, in order to reduce the consu...
متن کاملFunctions over RDF Language Elements
RDF data are usually accessed using one of two methods: either, graphs are rendered in forms perceivable by human users (e.g., in tabular or in graphical form), which are difficult to handle for large data sets. Alternatively, query languages like SPARQL provide means to express information needs in structured form; hence they are targeted towards developers and experts. Inspired by the concept...

We present advanced features of RDB2OWL mapping specification language that allows expressing RDB-to-RDF/OWL mappings in a concise and human comprehensible way. The RDB2OWL mappings can be regarded as documentation of the database-to-ontology relation. The RDB2OWL language uses the OWL ontology structure as a backbone for mapping specification by placing the database link information into the a...
متن کاملUsing RDF(S) to provide multiple views into a single ontology
This paper deals with RDF (Resource Description Framework). The main point is to present a general model describing when and how to exploit RDF technology. It is suggested that RDF(S) 1 functions best as a means to provide mechanisms for expressing contextual and case-specific information. In other words, RDF(S) is suitable for providing different views into a single extensive ontology, rather ...
متن کاملBounds: Expressing Reservations about Incoming Data
This paper introduces the Boundz vocabulary, an RDF vocabulary for expressing reservations about incoming data. We argue that the need for such a vocabulary is real and pressing, and that it is a useful validation tool for any recipient of RDF data that wishes to formulate restrictions on amendments in terms of the data it is already holding. The Boundz vocabulary has a simple mathematical theo...
